Ideal Food for Wine and Cheese Parties

Wine and cheese play a wonderful combination while planning a party. However, to turn it more memorable you must combine the cheese with the most apt wine and menu. For example you can pair the kind of cheese with the dish that complements it and accordingly pair the wine as well. Below are a few suggestions for an ideal menu that can add spark to you wine and cheese party.
To start with, pair the wine with the right kind of cheese.
- Gouda, Colby go well with white wines such as Riesling and Muscat. Camembert can match up well with Champagne. Gouda, Colby and Camembert are examples of soft cheese that are perfect to go with white (mild) wines.
- Cabernets with taste well with a bit stronger cheese like Brie.
- Sharp cheddar, parmesan and stilton must be paired with red wines.
Now, once the pairing is done additional dishes can be presented. The dishes however must be prepared keeping in mind the favorites of any particular region or the theme of the party. However, there are a few all time favorites that can go well in any wine and cheese party. Here are the examples:
Antipasti
Bake some marinated vegetables, cubes of mozzarella cheese and turkey sausages on skewers and serve hot.
Bean Dip
White bean dip with a pinch of salty anchovy paste makes a great dish, keeping your guests wanting to know the secret behind the delicacy.
Onion Crostini
Cook some onions and sprig thyme in olive oil, add salt and pepper to taste. Prepare the baguette slices by adding olive oil, cheese, pepper and salt and putting it to bake. Now serve the baguette slices with the cooked onions and thyme.
Fried cheese bundles
Put the string cheese in wonton wrapper and prepare the bundles. Then cook in olive oil and serve with sauce.
Fruit Salads
Prepare a fruit salad combining the available fruits with cheese toppings.
Gorgonzola Dip
Combine the mascarpone cheese with chives, salt, pepper and sour cream and stir well. Stir in the gorgonzola cheese with the mixture and serve with toasted walnuts, pears and sliced apples.
All done remember to embellish the dishes well with stunning crockery and great music. It will turn your party a success.
